Week 2 (9.25 - 10.1) - The Pitch Presentation

We were able to apply textures for our pitch presentation on Discord.

We started to experiment with bipedal procedural walking and going on hills, next steps are to experiment with worm-like movement and four-legged procedural walking. Getting it to feel right is going to be very tricky, though. We're also drafting up the tutorial level and adding Skippy's tail spin attack to knock over and/or break objects. So far we've added the spinning part (very rudimentary) and object detection for the attack, but nothing responds to it yet.

We also added settings and a quit game button to the main menu, as well as a pause game screen with the ability to resume, restart, change settings, and go back to the main menu. In the settings, players can adjust the volume of the game. All of these screens have the bare minimum UI and still need their design finalized.

We realized that Skippy's jump feels very "floaty" and he loses health immediately when he exits a puddle. The combination of this means that every time Skippy jumps on top of a puddle, he loses a large portion of his health before he even lands. To address this, we made Skippy's jump smoother by increasing the falling velocity so that he spends less time in the air, and also add an invincibility delay so that he does not lose health immediately after exiting a pile of liquid.
