Week 8 (11.6 - 11.12) (Reading Week)
We received a lot of feedback from the alpha presentation and we are working on implementing it, specifically making Skippy's colours change as he runs out of water.
Another thing we want to do is use timelines to implement objects falling over after knocking them down, instead of relying on pure physics. This would make it easy to animate the falling tree in the forest, which we want to lose leaves after it falls and play a particle effect.
We added a cutscene when the player enters Level 1 to indicate that Skippy was sleeping and what happened in the Tutorial level was all a dream. Currently the cutscene only zooms out and swings around to show the room, but we plan to add an animation of Skippy waking up in the future.
Moreover, we made some adjustments with the powerup system. We removdc the powerup filter as we felt that a filter is not suited for a third-person game, and instead, added a glowing effect on Skippy with glitter trails when the powerup is active. We also found that the speedup powerup was too difficult to control and didn't really have a place in the house level, so we decided to cut that.
